Hear, first hand, what it is like to sub in CHPS!

Substituting gives me the chance to inspire young minds and witness their excitement for learning every day. I love [it] because it allows me to engage with a diverse group of students and see their unique talents shine. Being a substitute teacher means every day is a new adventure filled with opportunities to make a positive impact. The joy of substituting comes from helping students discover their potential and fostering a love for learning. I enjoy substituting because it gives me the chance to be a part of each student’s educational journey and celebrate their achievements.

Subbing is the pinnacle of professional development. You are constantly learning different curriculums to execute. Eventually, you will become well-versed in a particular subject.

Timothy James

Former Substitute Teacher, Current Full Time Teacher

I enjoy so much subbing for our CHPS. I was employed with the school system for 27 years from 1976 to 2003, and I enjoyed every minute, so when I retired, I did miss the children and other teachers. The idea came to me about 12 years later that I would like to get back into the working world on my terms, so I applied [to sub]...I have been kept very busy, especially with the PK program and Kindergarten, and love every minute. Some of the fun things that I enjoy is when I get to work with a child of a student that I had at Lakeview and to sub with a teacher who was one of my students. I always feel so welcome at the schools; everyone is so helpful and makes me feel needed.

Elaine Kollman

Retired CHPS Teacher, Current Substitute Teacher

Each morning that I cross the threshold of CHMS is an adventure filled with new challenges and experiences...I love teaching a variety of grade levels and subjects, as well as getting to know students who come from multiple backgrounds...I enjoy interacting with all staff and feel as though I am part of an extended school family.
